Starters:
Good opening hands include The Weather Painter Snow , or any weather painter monster plus The Weather Snowy Canvas / The Weather Forecast
Another way to get to your combo is to have The Weather Painter Thunder plus any of your continous spells.
We also Include Small World to get us to our other weather painters. The routes you can take depend on which handtraps you have availible to you.
Weather Painter/Canvas ratios and why they're correct:
We'll start with the common ratios. The Weather Forecast , The Weather Snowy Canvas , and The Weather Painter Snow at 3. As stated in the previous sections they're all starters to help you to get more cards, painter, and to get the link 3 The Weather Painter Rainbow
The two weird ratios people may not agree with is three The Weather Painter Thunder , the two The Weather Painter Sun , and one The Weather Painter Cloud . The reason I think these are the ratios you should play is because The Weather Painter Thunder gets you to The Weather Snowy Canvas which gets you all of your other weather cards. You can also out your own Skill Drain , Anti-Spell Fragrance , or you can have him just to set off the effect of cloud. The Weather Painter Cloud is at one because by themselves they are basically a dead painter unless you already have the The Weather Forecast or The Weather Snowy Canvas . Two The Weather Painter Sun because using him as link material allows you to summon him back almost immidiently after which allows you to get more bodies on board quicker which is what weather painters struggle to do.
Last but not least we have all the non-starter weather spell traps at 1 because most of the time we don't want to draw them. Instead we'll end up getting them by searching and/or placing the with The Weather Forecast or The Weather Painter Snow
Anti-meta/Control:
Weather painters thrive in a control shell due to how they and their link monster interacts with the feild
First one is Anti-Spell Fragrance . Not only is this card a good anti-meta card that needs to see limits/bans, but also weather simply plays around this card without a problem. The Weather Forecast , The Weather Painter Snow , and The Weather Painter Thunder all activate from deck and therefore aren't effected by antispell. Anti-spell is also a great target for The Weather Painter Thunder to send for a weather spell/trap if you're in a pinch.
Second is Macro Cosmos which is very self explainatory. Most decks need a gy to function and Macro Cosmos takes that away from them. This is a instant win against decks like tearlaments and hinders spright so much to the point where it makes spright elf useless. It also works on decks that are also currently being run as anti meta like exosister. Having everything banished means they can't move their own cards out of their GY to xyz summon. Yet again another card that can be sent by The Weather Painter Thunder in a pinch.
Next is Solemn Judgment , A card that protects your backrow against things like Harpie's Feather Duster and others that are currently being run to out mystic mine. Speaking of this is also our mystic mine out that we use to negate the activation before they have a chance to use Beat Cop from the Underworld or Field Barrier . I've been switching between this and Solemn Strike but I weather painters deals with monsters much easier than spell/trap effects so most of the time Solemn Strike feels redundant.
The last two are my personal take on how to counter the meta but are also budget and there are better alternatives that I'll talk about later. These two are Drowning Mirror Force and Torrential Tribute . Torrential Tribute is by far the easier one to justify as Weather painters banish themselves as cost so they'll never get destroyed by torrential and you can also activate torrential inbetween painter summons to proc torrential and force out negates from your opponent. Next is Drowning Mirror Force which in all honesty I have a replacement I'll talk about in the next section that if you can afford you should absolutely do. However I think drowning is a amazing card against decks that produce monsters that cannot be destoryed or that have on death effects. Again a good example of a deck that hates this and doesn't run a out for is Tearlaments. They don't run spell trap negates and most of the time have limited back row removal.
Replacements of budget options/Side deck options:
First off replace Drowning Mirror Force if you have access to three copies of Skill Drain . Weather painters banish themelves for cost so they dont losing anything from skill drain while skill drain also hurts every meta deck this format. Incase you planned on using the effect of one of your extra deck monsters you can send Skill Drain to the GY using The Weather Painter Thunder as his effect sends for cost.
Next Dimension Shifter is about to become budget with the upcoming crystal beast structure deck and once it does you should absolutely mainboard it in the deck. Dimension Shifter also has 2200 def which allows it to be a small world target that can get you to The Weather Painter Snow especially if you decide to add more hand traps.
Gamma is quite affordable at the moment and is currently one of the best handtraps in the format. It's also one of the few handtraps you can play under Dimension Shifter , Macro Cosmos , and Dimensional Fissure . I think this is a better alternative to infinite impermanence as it gives you more small world targets as well as being able to hit GY/Hand effects that Imperm can't deal with.
Obviously Accesscode Talker instead of one of the topologic extra deck monsters works. You always end up getting your link fours out by using your backrow to make a link 3 weather monster then using one of your maindeck monsters as the foruth one. Same goes with making Apollousa, Bow of the Goddess with two negates. It's not ideal but in certain matchups and especially shuts down those random rouge decks before they make some crazy board.
Red Reboot is a mandatory sideboard card. Weather can play through and if you want you can play Rivalry of Warlords but other floodgates like the There Can Be Only One or Gozen Match makes weather cry.
Warning Point and Dimensional Barrier are key sideboard cards in my opinion and if you're feeling risky are worthy of a main board. Warning Point is going against the vast majority of decks but doesn't make it guaranteed to shut down your opponent. While Dimensional Barrier , a card that should be somewhere on the banlist, ftks certain decks.
The fusion monsters in the extra deck are for Super Polymerization , a really good board breaker in the format however weather can't really use its own monsters for any of the fusions and doesn't get much off of discards so I highly reccomend to side board it instead of putting it in the main deck. However the card isn't exactly cheap so if you can affoard it then don't worry about you. You got yourself some extra deck space to play around with.
Last but not least if you're not worried about budget Pot of Prosperity is an amazing card for weather. Weather won't otk every time so the half damage doesn't matter and if you can get your specific peices of weather you can setup enough negates to stop your opponent. If you're a person who loves the thrill of gambling you can play Pot of Desires , however if you banish all 3 The Weather Forecast or all 3 The Weather Painter Snow or even all 3 The Weather Snowy Canvas you have basically lost. So I wouldn't reccomend but I've seen it be successful on occasion.
